Pacific County Celebrates Museum Month 2024 with Record-Setting Enthusiasm

Winner of Museum Challenge Biked to Every Museum in Pacific County

– Pacific County’s annual Museum Month, held each May, was an inspiring success this year as residents and visitors came together to celebrate the region’s rich history and culture. The highlight of this year’s festivities was the Museum Challenge Prize, awarded to a participant who achieved an extraordinary feat: visiting every museum in the county – all by bicycle.

The prize winner logged an impressive approximate 118 miles during the month-long challenge, visiting each participating museum along the scenic routes of Pacific County. The journey took her through Ilwaco, Long Beach, Raymond, and Tokeland, offering a unique perspective on the region’s diverse cultural heritage and natural beauty.

Museum Month, organized by Washington’s Evergreen Coast, featured 10 participating museums, including the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center and the Shoalwater Bay Museum. Some of the museums offered special exhibits and activities throughout May, encouraging the community to explore and appreciate the county’s rich history.

“We were thrilled by the enthusiasm this year,” said Madeline Matson. “Seeing participants engage with our museums is exactly what Museum Month is all about – fostering a love of history, culture, and community.”

The Museum Challenge Prize was created to promote exploration of the region’s many museums and celebrate those who embrace the adventure. This year’s winner not only completed the challenge but did so in a sustainable and inspiring way by biking to each location.

For those who missed Museum Month 2024, organizers encourage everyone to visit Pacific County’s museums year-round to enjoy the vibrant history and cultural treasures that make the region special or you can join us for Museum Month 2025! We hope to see you there!
