Long Beach Loyalty Days Celebration
Suggested Itinerary:
Day One – Arrive in Portland Oregon
After checking into the host hotel, there will be time for tax free shopping at a Center near the hotel. Dinner will be on the passenger’s own as there are restaurants within walking distance from the lodging facility.
Day Two – It’s a Bloomin’ Good Day in Portland
Portland is known as the Rose City, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t other types of blooms to enjoy. The morning will filled with the fragrances of roses, and the serenity and peace of an Oriental garden. Lunch will be at a world famous restaurant located in an historic part of the city. The afternoon will be filled with the sights and sounds of a recreated garden and home of a Chinese Aristocrat followed by a tour of the City. Portlandia, the River Front, and the Pearl district…just some of the sights you will see. An evening cruise on the Willamette River with a gourmet dinner…what could be better?
Day Three – The Spectacular Columbia River Gorge and Mt. Hood
From the moment the coach leaves the Lewis and Clark Park, there is just one surprise right after another. The Historical Columbia River Highway was and is an engineering marvel. When it was built the engineer was assigned the task of building the road, but not to disturb the natural beauty that surrounded the road. Waterfalls, historic buildings, Bonneville Dam and a view of the prehistoric Sturgeon are the sites waiting for you. Lunch will be served with an unparalleled view of the River then it is off through the orchards an on to Mt. Hood. Timberline Lodge, a National Treasure will be on the schedule with a tour. The real story of Mt Hood is told at the Mt Hood Cultural Center through their collections and art displays.
DAY Four – The Pacific or Bust!
Leaving the city of Portland and heading to the beautiful Pacific Coast, first stop will be at an old logging camp, that now is a world renowned restaurant…serving the best cinnamon rolls you have ever tasted! On to some of the best photo opportunities located along the coast line. Astoria, one of the oldest communities west of the Mississippi and located at the mouth of the Columbia River… but that is just the beginning. Astoria Column with a 360 degree view, the mansion that was built by an early sea captain, lunch at an award winning brewery with an afternoon visit to an exhibit of a Coast Guard Cutter in a 10’ swell! Across the river to the Long Beach Peninsula and the Mayors Red Carpet welcome! Dinner will be right downtown so there will plenty of opportunity to explore the shops and attractions located on Main Street..
Day Five – It’s Loyalty Days #1
What a day that is in store for you! The coach will drop you off at the Port of Ilwaco to enjoy the Farmers Market followed by the Children’s Parade. Lunch will be on your own at one of the many restaurants located on the Pier. Board the assigned charter vessel for the Blessing of the Fleet…a very moving and somber event. That evening you will be joined by the “Guest of Honor” of who might be George Washington, or another dignity from the early days of America and a buffet dinner.
Day Six – It’s Loyalty Days #2
Joining the local citizens at the Saddle Club Pancake Breakfast will prepare you for the VIP seating at the 63rd parade honoring those brave men and women whom have served and are serving in the US Armed Forces. The awards ceremony will be hosted by the Mayor. Dinner tonight will be in an historic Clamshell Railroad depot.
Day Seven – Safe Travels!
It time to say good bye to the most beautiful beach in the State of Washington..but we wish you safe travel to your next destination. And, please return for next years’ celebration!
