10 Places to Kiss

Feb 14, 2023 | Beach, State Parks

Want to sweep your sweetheart off their feet?

Pacific County is home to many scenic areas and fun places to share a romantic moment with your boo. Share a smooch at these places:

Waikiki Beach

Tucked away in Cape Disappointment State Park is a cliff-lined sandy cove. Get a close-up view of crystal clear waves and passing boats making their journey to the ocean at the mouth of the Columbia River. Roll up your pants, share a kiss, and walk hand in hand with your loved one.

Oysterville Sea Farms

In the northern part of the Long Beach Peninsula lies a tiny town suspended in time – Oysterville. Here, Oysterville Sea Farms, the last remaining oyster station and present day oyster farm and seafood market, reaches out into oyster-famed Willapa Bay. Enjoy a romantic moment on the wooden deck over a plate of freshly shucked oysters while taking in views of the moody, sometimes misty, other times  baby-blue bay.

North Cove Bar and Grill

Yummy food. Delicious drinks. Beautiful sunset views. The North Cove Bar and Grill has everything you need for a relaxed, romantic meal with your loved one. After dinner, stroll quietly along nearby Washaway Beach, sealing the moment with a kiss!

Long Beach Boardwalk

Placed just out of reach of the mighty Pacific ocean surf and running parallel to the beach is the Long Beach Boardwalk.  The half-mile long, wooden platform, virtually floating above the grassy dunes, is the perfect spot to take in a vibrant sunset or, for adventure-seeking couples, a storm. It’s also one of the best places to inspire a kiss.

Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center Observation Deck

Do you want to feel on top of the world? Head to the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center’s outdoor deck. Perched 200-feet above the pounding surf, take in a wide view of the craggy cliffs, where soaring eagles and seasonal wild flowers abound. Share a smooch with Cape Disappointment Lighthouse and the mouth of the Columbia River as a backdrop.

Bell’s View

The trail to Bell’s View is through a shady, fern-laden forest. Walking it feels like stepping into a fairytale. As you meander along, listen for the faint roar of the ocean and the sweet sound of birdsong. Be rewarded with panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and a perfect place for a kiss!

Northwest Carriage Museum

The Northwest Carriage Museum showcases horse-drawn vehicles and artifacts of the ever-romantic Victorian era. Walking into the museum feels like going back to a familiar yet distant time. While here, share a nostalgic moment reminiscing about what life was like before automobiles. For a little pick me up and something sweet, stop by Wild Pines coffee at Alder + Co. next door, and snap a photo kissing in front of the gigantic angel wings.

Raymond Waterfront

Raymond is a quiet, peaceful town with a waterfront along the Willapa River and a backdrop of rolling hills. Seek out your favorite steel sculpture or walk out to the docks with your loved one for a smooch. Up for some fun? Enjoy a romantic kayak excursion with Willapa Paddle Adventures or take a 10-minute scenic drive for a tasting at WooHoo Winery.

North Head Lighthouse

The short trail down to the North Head Lighthouse passes the newly restored Lighthouse Keeper’s Quarters and offers a peekaboo view of Benson Beach and the North Jetty to the south. High above the surf at the edge of the continent, at the base of the lighthouse watch for puffs of spray from migrating gray whales as the Pacific Ocean extends farther than the eye can see. Share a kiss, and snap a pic of the iconic view while you’re at it!

Fort Columbia

Fort Columbia, formerly a military outpost and now a state park, is located on the way from the Astoria-Megler Bridge to the Long Beach Peninsula. The fort’s overlook provides a sweeping view of the mouth of the Columbia River, fishing boats, shipping barges, sea lions, and rare sightings of Humpback Whales. This large, grassy area is perfect for a picnic and a kiss with your beloved.
